Community of Madrid announces senior card and mental health services

The Community of Madrid has announced several new social initiatives scheduled for implementation in 2027. President Isabel Díaz Ayuso confirmed the introduction of the ‘Carné Senior’ for residents over the age of 55. This card aims to promote active aging by providing access to discounts on leisure activities, cultural events, and various public and private services. Additionally, the program will offer training in digital literacy and technology workshops to help seniors navigate new technologies.

In a separate social health measure, the regional government has authorized an investment of over one million euros to launch a socio-sanitary intervention service in January 2027. This program is designed to prevent addictions, promote mental health, and encourage healthy lifestyles among vulnerable populations, including those over 18 or emancipated minors. The initiative includes a pilot project specifically targeting homeless individuals through the region’s network of social dining rooms.
