Community of Madrid completes TDT deployment in 95 rural towns
The Community of Madrid has completed the deployment of Digital Terrestrial Television (TDT) across 95 rural municipalities. The project, which began in September 2025, aimed to ensure access to national and regional digital channels in areas where difficult terrain, population dispersion, or distance from urban centers hindered signal reception.
To finalize the plan, the regional government modernized existing sites, improved channels, and replaced obsolete equipment. The initiative benefits approximately 400,000 residents and involved the installation of transmitters, receivers, antennas, and communication equipment. A User Service Center (CAU) has also been established to resolve installation issues.
Starting November 5, residents will be able to access new Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcasts as part of a broader technological transition in Spain. Citizens may need to rescan their channels to access the full television offering.
