Community programs for seniors launch in Florida and Gandia
New community initiatives for senior citizens are being launched in Florida and Gandia to promote active aging and social integration.
In Florida, the Cruz Alta Day Center will host a new weekly workshop starting Thursday, September 10. Part of the ‘Vejez + Cuidada + Activa’ program, the initiative is a collaboration between Fundación Astur, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Cruz Alta Day Center. The free sessions will run every Thursday from 14:00 to 17:00, offering recreational activities, learning opportunities, and shared snacks to foster social bonds. Pre-registration is required.
In Gandia, the city has opened enrollment for various courses at its four municipal Senior Coexistence Centers: Roís de Corella, Corea, Grau, and Marxuquera. Each center will offer 18 different activities, including painting, dance, memory exercises, yoga, and healthy walks. Registration periods vary by location, with most enrollment occurring between September 7 and September 25. A lottery will be held on September 30 to assign available spots, with admission lists published on October 6.
