Community projects and local festivals marked in Ecuador and Spain

In Loja, Ecuador, alumni of the Unidad Educativa Miguel Riofrío have completed the construction of a covered sports court. The project, which was conceived during the coronavirus pandemic, was coordinated by former student Carlos Freire Jaramillo. The total investment exceeded 70,000 dollars, with alumni contributing 40,000 dollars for foundations and plans, while the Prefectura provided 31,850 dollars for the infrastructure. The facility now features lighting and protection from sun and rain, with an official handover expected to coincide with the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

In Cangas, Spain, the local government has completed the first phase of technical inspections for 35 attractions scheduled for the Festas do Cristo. An engineering firm reviewed the installations, reporting no significant incidents. The festival will begin with a lighting ceremony, and the main stage has been relocated to the Ojea esplanade to improve safety and space. The religious program will culminate on Sunday, the 30th, with a traditional procession organized by the Cofradía del Santísimo Cristo del Consuelo.
