Community reading and storytelling initiatives launched in Italy
Various local initiatives are promoting literacy and storytelling for children across different Italian municipalities. In Ballabio, the municipal council chamber has been transformed into a dedicated reading space for students of the Fantasia primary school through the ‘Un libro per tutti’ project. This collaboration between the school, La Libreria Volante, the local administration, and a parents' committee aims to strengthen the connection between the school, the territory, and reading habits.
In Ferrara, the Bassani library is hosting a Halloween-themed storytelling event for children aged five and up. The workshop utilizes Augmented and Alternative Communication (CAA) to ensure inclusive participation. The activity combines storytelling with an illustrated card game, allowing children to create their own scenes and participate in ‘tableau vivant’ through imagination and movement.
