Community recycling events collect over 100,000 pounds of e-waste

Recent community electronics recycling events in Pennsylvania and Kansas have successfully diverted significant amounts of e-waste from landfills.

In Delaware County, Pennsylvania, a collection event held at Penn State Brandywine gathered 8,605 pounds of unwanted electronics. Organized by State Representative Lisa Borowski and State Senator John Kane in partnership with Reworld, the collected items were transported to a Philadelphia facility for dismantling and material recovery in accordance with the state’s Covered Device Recycling Act.

In Lawrence, Kansas, the city’s 2026 Electronics Recycling Event collected 100,220 pounds of electronic waste at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. The event saw 1,077 vehicles participate, collecting items such as cathode ray tube televisions, flat-screen monitors, computers, and printers to ensure materials requiring special handling are processed responsibly.
