Community rights marches held in Fray Bentos and Salto

Various community rights marches took place in Uruguay, focusing on diversity and accessibility. In Fray Bentos, the Espacio Participación Diversa collective organized the Fifth Diversity March. The event included artistic performances by drag queens, singers, and dancers, alongside health awareness sessions led by Dr. Johnny Delgado regarding sexually transmitted infections. Participants also raised concerns regarding HIV and the potential impact of global UNAIDS funding cuts on prevention and treatment policies.

In Salto, the Asociación de Sordos de Salto organized a march to advocate for the rights of the deaf community. The mobilization aimed to promote inclusion and accessibility in education, health, culture, and public services. A central focus of the event was the importance of Uruguayan Sign Language as a tool for identity and rights. The march concluded with a community fair featuring information booths and activities designed to introduce the public to deaf culture and sign language.
