Community running events organized in Benamira and Sevilla

Various community sporting events are being organized in Spain to support local causes and visibility.

In Benamira, a small hamlet of Medinaceli with only one resident during the winter, the second II Trail del Jalón will take place on October 3. Organized by Fernando del Amo and the Association of Friends of Benamira, the race aims to bring attention to the territory and combat the sense of isolation through sport. Following a successful first edition that drew 178 participants, the event has been rescheduled from June to October to take advantage of better weather and landscapes.

In Sevilla, the city will host its first charity race benefiting rare diseases on October 4. The event is dedicated to raising awareness for epidermolysis bullosa, also known as ‘Butterfly Skin,’ inspired by the resilience of 12-year-old Leo García. The race will be part of the 5K Nervión-San Pablo Popular Race, organized by the Municipal Sports Institute. Seville Mayor José Luis Sanz officially presented the initiative, expressing hope that the event becomes an annual tradition to support families facing rare medical conditions.
