Community solidarity campaigns support vulnerable populations in Cuba

Community-led solidarity campaigns are providing essential food and supplies to vulnerable populations across Cuba. In Havana, the Proyecto Sociocultural Cabildo Quisicuaba is running a campaign to maintain its social kitchens. These kitchens, located in the Los Sitios area of Centro Habana, provide meals both on-site and via home delivery for the elderly, homeless individuals, and low-income families. The organization manages over thirty social programs supported by donations and volunteers.

In Cienfuegos, self-employed female entrepreneurs have partnered with the Federación de Mujeres Cubanas (FMC) to distribute essential goods. This initiative supports the Family Assistance System (SAF) in the Caunao community, providing clothing and necessities to the elderly and people with disabilities. The collaborative efforts have extended aid to various regions, including Santa Clara and eastern Cuba, to reach those in remote or difficult-to-access areas.
