Community solidarity walks organized in Portugal
Various community solidarity walks are being organized in Portugal to support local causes and health awareness.
The 13th Solidarity Walk of the Oliveira de Azeméis Volunteer Firefighters is scheduled for Sunday, October 11. The event features a new seven-kilometer route through Travanca and Ul. Organizers aim to reach 1,000 participants and have planned activities including a Zumba class, music by DJ Differ, and a communal meal featuring spit-roasted pork. Registration costs 7.50 euros and includes a participation kit.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Agrupamento de Escolas João da Silva Correia will host the “Uma Luz, Uma Vida” walk on October 27. The initiative aims to raise funds for the Portuguese League Against Cancer and promote early diagnosis. Participants are encouraged to wear pink and will carry LED paper lanterns to create a “heart of light” at the finish line. The five-euro participation fee and voluntary donations will benefit the cancer league.
