Community sports programs launched in Maracaibo and Celaya
Municipalities in Maracaibo and Celaya have launched community-focused sports initiatives aimed at youth development and women's empowerment.
In Maracaibo, Venezuela, the Alcaldía de Maracaibo and the Municipal Institute of Sport and Recreation (IMDEPREC) inaugurated a free Sports Vacation Plan at Ana María Campos Monumental Park. The program hosted over 100 children aged 10 to 13, providing them with practical and theoretical instruction in various disciplines, including chess, basketball, baseball five, futsal, volleyball, and recreational games.
In Celaya, Mexico, the 'Mujeres Libres' Women's 7-a-side Football Tournament concluded at Xochipilli Park. Organized in coordination with the Municipal Institute for Women (Insmujeres), the competition involved 90 female athletes across 10 sessions. The tournament aimed to promote physical activity and create safe, inclusive public spaces for women. The top three teams—Equipo Francia, Equipo Olivos, and Deportivo Morales—received trophies and monetary prizes.
