Community support initiatives for foster care and animal welfare

Foster Angels of Central Texas provides essential resources for children in the foster care system. Founded by Ted Oakley and later expanded by Sarah Oakley, the organization supplies basic necessities such as clothing, food, and beds. Beyond immediate needs, the group funds summer camps, after-school activities, tutoring, and higher education scholarships. Their ‘Guide to Thrive’ program specifically assists youth aging out of care until age 26 by providing rent assistance and guidance to foster independence.

In Ottawa, Canada, local animal welfare efforts are seeking volunteers to foster large, high-energy dogs with challenging behaviors. These animals often face longer waits for temporary homes compared to other pets. The program provides foster volunteers with food, toys, veterinary care, and behavioral support to assist in the transition of these dogs to permanent homes.
