Community support initiatives launched in France
Community initiatives in France are focusing on support systems for families and caregivers. In the Arc Sud Bretagne region, the Communauté de Communes Arc Sud Bretagne is hosting ‘Café Parents’ sessions. Led by specialist educator Claire Vasseur, these meetings aim to provide a non-judgmental space for parents to discuss challenges regarding their children and adolescents.
In Plescop, the local health center (maison de santé) held its first dedicated afternoon for caregivers on September 29. The initiative seeks to provide respite for those supporting individuals with cancer or neurodegenerative diseases. Following this event, the town hall plans to organize monthly discussion groups. The health center, which serves 5,600 patients with a multidisciplinary team of 33 professionals, also offers adapted physical activity programs to promote healthy aging.
