Local social initiatives and senior support programs expand across Poland
Various local government and social initiatives in Poland are focusing on community support and senior welfare. In Koszalin, 11 digital support points have been launched through public libraries to assist seniors with internet services, including the mObywatel app and patient accounts. Additionally, Dorota Gruszeczka has been appointed as the city's representative for senior affairs.
In Świnoujście, residents can now access the 'Karta Wyspiarza' (Islander Card) through an additional service point at the Municipal Public Library. The deadline for exchanging old cards has been extended to December 31, 2026.
In Włoszczowa, a 'Senior Voucher' program has been signed to provide elderly residents with home-based care services, such as help with shopping, meals, and hygiene, funded by the state budget. Other regional activities include social work workshops in Nowy Sącz, senior support network meetings in Borzęcin Duży, and an upcoming conference in Gdańsk titled 'Zdrowe pomaganie' (Healthy Helping) focused on the challenges of social activism and preventing burnout among caregivers.
