Community Theater Programs Launch in Rosario, Mexico, and Buenos Aires
The independent theatre company La Pérgola continued its "Gira por los Barrios de Rosario" weekend, staging the family‑friendly play El monte de los invisibles at the Centro de Servicio Social El Pastoreo with municipal backing. The event also featured a performance by the murga Hoy No Puedo and a bingo fundraiser whose proceeds will support the social‑service centre.
The federal Circuito de Promoción del Teatro 2026 announced three winners—Catexia Teatro, Perro Liebre Arte Escénica and Escafandra Teatro—each receiving an economic grant of 80 000 pesos to cover a touring circuit from August to November. The tours will travel to cities across Michoacán, including Tacámbaro, Apatzingán, Zamora, Uruapan, Cuitzeo, Zitácuaro and Morelia. The selection was made from twelve proposals, ten of which met all requirements, under the Programa de Apoyos a la Cultura.
In Buenos Aires, the community theatre collective Sin Telón opened a new call for neighbourhood participants in the Abasto and Almagro districts. The invitation is open to residents of any age and experience level, aiming to involve locals in collective creation and to preserve neighbourhood memory. Sin Telón, founded in 2017, is a member of the Red Nacional de Teatro Comunitario and previously produced works such as "El mercado olvidado" and "Memorias de la Estación".
