Community traditions and commemorative events in Cuautla and Guatemala
In Cuautla, Morelos, residents of the Puxtla neighborhood are maintaining their religious devotion to San Judas Tadeo through a nine-day itinerant novena. For approximately six years, families have organized prayer processions and visits to various homes to express gratitude for perceived miracles and to pass religious values to younger generations.
Additionally, the community is preparing the “Huellitas que trascienden” offering to honor the memory of pets. Organized by Vida Silvestre A. C., the initiative has collected approximately 20 photographs of domestic animals, including a llama, to be displayed in a communal offering at Emiliano Zapata Park.
In Guatemala, the traditional Posadas celebrations are set to take place from December 16 to 24. This nine-night tradition commemorates the pilgrimage of Mary and Joseph. The festivities involve processions with lights, music, and traditional instruments such as turtle shells, chinchines, and whistles, a practice historically influenced and popularized by Saint Hermano Pedro.
