Community walks scheduled to mark domestic violence awareness month

Various community organizations are hosting annual walks to mark the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

In Jamestown, the Chautauqua County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault will hold its 29th annual Walk Against Domestic Violence and 24th Unity Day Celebration on October 2. The event begins at the Northwest Arena and proceeds to Jamestown City Hall, featuring a ceremony with keynote speakers and a community reception. Participants are encouraged to wear purple in solidarity.

In Greenwich, YWCA Greenwich’s Harmony Project will host its annual Walk the Walk Against Domestic Violence on October 4 at Bruce Park. This free, family-friendly one-mile walk aims to raise awareness and funds for the organization’s free services, which include counseling, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, and a 24/7 hotline.
