Community water and infrastructure projects advance in Dominican Republic and Honduras

In the Dominican Republic, the El Canal community in San José de Ocoa has reported progress on a water supply project, including the arrival of pipes and planned treatment plants. Salvador Diaz, president of APAC, noted that the association has been managing various community development projects since 2021. The community is currently awaiting the resumption of roadwork and improvements to several local routes.

In Honduras, the Mayor of the Central District, Juan Diego Zelaya, has been overseeing water distribution in the villages of Yaguacire and Concepción de Río Grande to address a water emergency. The Municipal Unit of Drinking Water and Sanitation (UMAPS) has distributed over 6 million gallons of water for free. Additionally, the mayor supervised the delivery of roofing materials for community and educational spaces, including the San Antonio de Padua Chapel and the Dionisio Her school.
