Como administration faces calls for resignations over school management crisis

Political pressure is mounting against the administration of Como, Italy, following a crisis in local school management. Bipartisan calls for the resignation of Nicoletta Roperto, the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Educational Policies, have emerged from parties including PD, Svolta Civica, and Forza Italia.

The controversy centers on the planned closure of the Corridoni primary school and the relocation of its students to the Venini complex in via Fiume. This move was temporarily suspended by the Council of State, which is awaiting a technical report before making a final decision on September 15. The suspension has left families and staff in a state of uncertainty regarding the upcoming school term.

Forza Italia has criticized the administration for what they describe as failed planning and rushed decisions, alleging that the relocation was an attempt to vacate the via Sinigaglia site to make room for a parking garage. The political opposition has extended its criticism to Mayor Alessandro Rapinese, arguing that he bears ultimate responsibility for the administration's management of schools and social services.
