Como bike sharing service shuts down following municipal bicycle ban

The bike sharing service in Como has ceased operations following a brief relaunch on April 30. The service, managed by the company Spazio Visibile, which had taken over the business from Bicincittà Italia, has discontinued its activity due to several unsustainable factors.

Key issues contributing to the shutdown include low usage rates, with pickup points remaining largely empty, and instances of vandalism earlier this summer. Additionally, Como has disappeared from the Weelo online platform. The closure coincides with a controversial decision by Mayor Alessandro Rapinese to ban bicycles from the city's historic center, a move that likely impacted the service's viability.
