Como construction site halted over safety breaches, €39k fines

Italian Carabinieri from the Fino Mornasco station, together with the provincial labour inspection unit and territorial labour inspectors, conducted a targeted safety check on a private construction site in the province of Como on May 22, 2026. The inspection, part of a verification programme that began in September 2025, identified multiple breaches of occupational‑safety regulations, including failure to verify the Safety and Coordination Plan, inadequate sanitary facilities, non‑conforming equipment, unsafe ladders and unprotected openings toward the void.

As a result, the site’s activity was suspended. Three companies were found irregular, six workers were inspected and three legal representatives were formally denounced. Financial penalties comprised roughly €33,000 in fines plus additional technical‑administrative sanctions of about €6,000, bringing total sanctions to more than €39,000.
