Como Lake Challenger: favorites fall in round of 16

The Como Lake Challenger has moved into the round of 16, marked by several upsets and strong performances from both rising juniors and experienced players. German 19-year-old Max Schoenhaus, ranked number 2 in the junior rankings, secured a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over the third seed, Peru's Gonzalo Bueno.

In a closely contested match, Croatia's Matej Dodig defeated Switzerland's Henry Bernet with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 7-5. Meanwhile, 2023 tournament winner Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Slovakia's Norbert Gombos 6-4, 6-3.

Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas also secured a spot in the next round by defeating local Italian player Federico Arnaboldi in straight sets. The tournament continues with remaining round of 16 matches, including upcoming play for Spain's Pedro Martinez, the highest-ranked player remaining in the competition.
