Como lakefront road closures and ZTL deactivation

The Municipality of Como has announced extraordinary maintenance work along the lakefront, scheduled from September 3 to September 12, 2026. The project involves repairing the rainwater drainage system (tombinatura) on Lungo Lario Trieste, specifically near the pedestrian crossing at Piazza Cavour.

To facilitate these works, several road closures and traffic restrictions will be implemented. Total transit bans in both directions will affect Piazza Cavour, Lungo Lario Trieste (between Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Cavour), and Lungo Lario Trento (between Via Cairoli and Piazza Cavour).

To manage the resulting traffic flow, the city is temporarily deactivating the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) in the historic center. Automatic access control systems at the Via Rodari and Via Cairoli stations will be disabled, and physical barriers such as barriers and New Jersey blocks will be placed at strategic points including Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Cavour.

Exceptions to the transit bans are granted for residents, hotel guests, and suppliers, who may use reserved lanes to access specific areas via Piazza Matteotti or Via Cairoli.
