Como Park Zoo announces passing of Skeeter the giraffe

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul has announced the death of Skeeter, the zoo's tallest resident. Skeeter was humanely euthanized earlier this week due to health complications stemming from arthritis, which had increasingly limited his mobility and ability to rest comfortably.

Skeeter joined the zoo in 2010 from the Jacksonville Zoo and remained a prominent figure for 16 years. During his tenure, he fathered eight calves and became a well-known attraction for visitors. He is noted for his charismatic presence and for being a witness to several significant moments, including at least two marriage proposals.
