Como province completes fiber optic installation across 145 municipalities
Fiber optic installation works have been completed across 145 municipalities in the province of Como, Italy. The infrastructure projects were carried out under the ‘Bando Bul – Banda Ultra Larga’ and ‘Piano Italia 1 Giga’ public initiatives.
Franco Lucente, the Lombardy Region Councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, stated that the new network will significantly contribute to digital development and access to public administration services. The project aims to foster innovation, competitiveness, and territorial attractiveness, particularly in rural and peripheral areas where private investment is less common.
In the Como province, approximately 144,000 real estate units are now eligible to request ultra-broadband services. Data indicates that broadband service adoption in the province stands at 23%, which is higher than the national average of 17%. The local investments included 28 million euros in public resources, with 7 million euros provided by the Lombardy Region.
