Como school relocation sparks protests and mayoral response

The relocation of students from Scuola Corridoni in Como has sparked significant local controversy. A parents' committee has denounced the move to via Fiume, describing the administration's actions as an authoritarian “summer blitz” that treats children “like postal packages.” The committee claims the decision was made without consulting families or school authorities and expressed concerns regarding the adequacy and safety of the new location.

In response, Como Mayor Alessandro Rapinese stated that the spaces in via Fiume are ready to accommodate the students. He noted that municipal technicians have cleared unused classrooms to prepare for the transition. Rapinese emphasized that the relocation follows legal requirements regarding the closure of the via Sinigaglia site and argued that using the large via Fiume facility is an effective use of public assets. He has called on the school principal to accept the transfer of the entire school to maintain unity among the students, despite concerns raised by regional school offices regarding certain facility issues.
