Comodoro Rivadavia authorities seize 50 tons of undeclared meat

Municipal authorities in Comodoro Rivadavia have seized nearly 50 tons of undeclared imported meat products at a major market in the Stella Maris neighborhood. The operation, conducted by the Dirección de Abasto, uncovered two large shipments.

The first inspection on Saturday revealed approximately 24 tons of products from Brazil, including chicken, pork, and various cold cuts. A subsequent inspection on Monday identified an additional 23,138 kilograms of pork originating from Chile.

Guillermo Alvarado, Director of Abasto, stated that businesses are legally required to declare all products entering the city at control points. When questioned, the accountant for the establishment claimed ignorance of the current regulations, a stance rejected by municipal officials who noted that such requirements are established by public laws and ordinances.
