Comodoro Rivadavia pedestrian killed in fatal car accident

A pedestrian died on Wednesday night after being struck by a car on the Roque González road in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut. The victim, a man estimated to be between 65 and 70 years old, died instantly at the scene.

Authorities reported that the driver, a 39-year-old man, was traveling at speeds exceeding the 40 km/h limit when the collision occurred. The driver had reportedly left his home to purchase a birthday cake for his partner. While a breathalyzer test returned a negative result for alcohol, investigators noted several contributing factors, including the pedestrian crossing in an unauthorized area and a significant lack of street lighting and signage in the sector.

Local police, including units from Criminalistics and the Investigations Division, processed the scene. The vehicle involved, a Ford Fiesta, was seized for further analysis. The case remains under investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
