Comodoro Rivadavia firefighters face emergency line disruptions after copper cable theft

The theft of copper cables at the Bomberos Voluntarios facilities in Comodoro Rivadavia has disrupted the institution's telephone system, directly affecting the reception of emergency calls. The theft targeted part of the central telephone wiring, disabling the rotary lines used by the guard.

As a result, emergency notifications have been impacted; in one recent instance involving a service station fire, the alert had to be relayed via police radio because the institutional line failed to receive it. The Communications Department is working with ENACOM and Telefónica to restore full service.

Telefónica has implemented a temporary solution by rerouting the 100 emergency number to a mobile line. However, officials warned that because it is a mobile line, callers may encounter a busy signal if the line is already in use. The community is urged to use the 100 number exclusively for urgent firefighter interventions.
