Quitilipi to host 49th Indigenous Peoples’ Handicraft Fair
The 49th edition of the ‘René James Sotelo’ Indigenous Peoples’ Handicraft Fair will take place on September 12 and 13 in Quitilipi, Chaco. Organized by the René James Sotelo Artisanal Museum, the Chaco Institute of Culture, and the Municipality of Quitilipi, the event aims to preserve and promote the ancestral knowledge and cultural identity of indigenous communities.
More than 200 master artisans from the Qom, Wichí, Moqoit, and Vilela peoples are expected to participate, showcasing works in pottery, weaving, basketry, and wood carving. The fair will have regional reach, including participants from neighboring provinces such as Formosa and Salta.
Parallel to the fair, the event will host the 15th National Indigenous Art Festival and the 14th ‘Francisco Ferrer’ Wood Carving Encounter. Musical performances by the Qom choir Chelaalapi are also scheduled for the festivities.
