Comodoro Rivadavia shipyard receives first vessel for repairs
The Argentine fishing vessel ‘Marcala 1’ has arrived at the port of Comodoro Rivadavia to begin repair work, marking a significant milestone for the renovated local shipyard. The vessel, a 52.90-meter long fishing boat from Mar del Plata, is currently moored and undergoing initial interventions.
Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres stated that the arrival of the ship is a result of the province's naval industry promotion law. The goal of the provincial government is to transform Comodoro Rivadavia into a competitive maritime hub for vessel maintenance and repair in Patagonia, aiming to attract investment and create local employment.
Full operations at the shipyard are expected to scale up following the scheduled inauguration of the SyncroLift system on December 18, which will allow vessels to be moved out of the water for more extensive work.
