Comodoro Rivadavia transport workers strike over unpaid wages
Transport workers in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, have initiated a service stoppage due to unpaid wages. The Unión Tranviarios Automotor (UTA) reported that 344 workers, who previously worked for Patagonia Argentina, are owed salaries and subsidies.
While 268 workers have transitioned to the new operator, Solbus, they have yet to receive their pending payments. UTA representative Alejandro Quintero stated that Solbus does not owe any money to the staff, placing responsibility for the arrears on the former operator, Patagonia Argentina, and the municipal government for failing to guarantee promised resources during the transition.
Workers have announced plans to mobilize toward the Municipality of Comodoro Rivadavia to demand payment and certainty regarding the status of the 75 remaining drivers who have not yet been incorporated into the new company.
