Comox Valley RCMP seeks public help identifying dangerous dirt bike and e‑bike riders

The Comox Valley RCMP are asking the public to help identify the riders of a dirt bike and an e‑bike that were observed driving dangerously on Cliffe Avenue at about 9:50 p.m. on July 16. One of the vehicles is a blue‑and‑white Husqvarna Motocross dirt bike that was previously reported in a separate incident on July 10.

RCMP officials say the detachment has received more than 20 reports of unsafe riding involving unlicensed dirt bikes, e‑bikes and electric scooters, averaging more than one complaint per day. Reported offenses include excessive speed, riding without helmets, collisions, failure to stop for police and a recent crash on Lake Trail Road that left a rider with a leg fracture. Police have taken enforcement action against several riders and, when youth are involved, have followed up with parents, but many riders flee before officers can intervene. The force is urging anyone with information to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250‑338‑1321.
