Compañía Mega receives RIGI approval for US$365M Vaca Muerta expansion
The Argentine government has officially approved the entry of the Ampliación Mega project into the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) via Resolution 1381/2026. Presented by Compañía Mega S.A., the project involves a total investment of approximately US$365.4 million aimed at expanding the capacity of the MEGA Industrial Complex in the Vaca Muerta region.
The expansion is designed to increase the production of natural gas liquids (NGLs) by 1,500 tonnes per day, raising the current capacity from 5,500 to 7,000 tonnes per day. The infrastructure works will include new facilities at the Loma La Lata separation plant in Neuquén, improvements to the Loma La Lata–Bahía Blanca pipeline, and developments at the fractionation plant in Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires.
Under the RIGI framework, the company is committed to investing US$121.6 million in the first year and US$152.7 million in the second year. Commercial operations for the expanded capacity are projected to begin on February 28, 2029, with an estimated project lifespan of 18 years. The project is expected to create 800 jobs and is estimated to have a US$213 million impact on the trade balance.
