The Compañía Nacional de Teatro, under the Dirección General de Bellas Artes, premiered the play “José, la isla” during the Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2026). The performance, held at the Teatro Nacional, was inspired by the poetic works of José Mármol, the author honored in this edition of the fair.

Directed by Fausto Rojas, the production featured performances by Ernesto Báez, Johnnié Mercedes, Aidita Selman, and Yulissa Álvarez. The play aimed to bridge literary creation and theatrical language, using visual staging to explore Mármol’s literary legacy.
