Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Évora announces new project for Évora_27

The Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Évora (CDCE) is developing a new production titled ‘A Centelha Fugaz que Permanece’ (The Fleeting Spark that Remains) in preparation for Évora’s designation as the European Capital of Culture in 2027.

Scheduled to premiere in July of next year, the project is centered on the concept of ‘Vagar’, which serves as the programming motto for Évora_27. The production explores themes of suspension, attention, and listening, aiming to interrupt acceleration through presence and observation.

The artistic investigation integrates territory and memory by combining dialogue between art and science with the lived experiences of ten senior women from Monsaraz. Additionally, the work evokes the ancient water mirror that once surrounded the Roman Temple of Évora, exploring visual and symbolic relationships between reflection and transformation.

The project is a co-production involving CDCE, JÁ International Theater, the Monsaraz Parish Council, the Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality, and CAE Portalegre.
