Companhia de Dança de Almada to premiere new work in Almada

The Companhia de Dança de Almada is set to premiere “A Espera do Baleiro” on September 25 at the Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite. This performance marks the opening of the 34th Quinzena de Dança de Almada - International Dance Festival.

Choreographed by Xián Martínez, the piece is a co-production with the Xunta de Galicia and the Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais. The work draws on the shared traditions of the Santa Compaña from Galicia and the Procissão das Almas from northern Portugal, exploring themes of mythology, superstition, and the human experience of finitude.
