Companies face major hurdles in AI and IT transformation projects

Recent industry studies reveal significant hurdles in corporate technology implementation, particularly regarding artificial intelligence and IT modernization. A survey by Cloudera of 1,500 IT architects found that 95% of organizations have delayed or canceled AI projects, primarily due to concerns over governance and compliance. Additionally, 72% of respondents noted that their current IT architecture requires significant revision to support AI workloads, while 84% reported rising infrastructure costs. This financial pressure has led 66% of companies to migrate AI workloads from the public cloud back to private or on-premises environments.

Parallel challenges exist in broader IT transformation efforts. A study by Natuvion and NTT Data Business Solutions involving over 1,100 executives indicates that 82% of transformation projects exceed their budgets and nearly 80% miss their timelines. The complexity of analyzing existing IT landscapes and managing legacy dependencies remains a major obstacle, with 71% of companies needing to adjust their migration methodologies mid-project. These difficulties are especially pronounced in sectors like banking, where interconnected core systems demand high levels of data quality and security.
