Compassion Behavioral Health emphasizes post-detox clinical care

Compassion Behavioral Health has released an educational resource titled “What Happens After Detox in Fort Lauderdale: The Clinical Step You Cannot Skip,” which emphasizes the necessity of continuing clinical care following medical detoxification.

The publication highlights that while medical detox is essential for safely managing withdrawal symptoms, it represents only the initial phase of addiction treatment. To achieve long-term recovery, patients often require ongoing therapeutic intervention to address the underlying behavioral, psychological, and medical causes of substance use disorders.

Supporting this approach, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) states that withdrawal management alone is not comprehensive treatment. Similarly, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recommends a continuum of care, including ongoing counseling and recovery support, to help patients develop relapse-prevention skills and manage co-occurring mental health conditions.
