Competition Commission appoints two new Deputy Commissioners
South African Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau has appointed Busikhosibakhe David Majenge and Tamara Leigh Mokoka as new Deputy Commissioners of the Competition Commission. The appointments are scheduled to take effect on 1 September 2026.
Busikhosibakhe David Majenge, a qualified attorney who joined the Commission in 2008, previously served as the Divisional Manager of Legal Services and Chief Legal Counsel. Tamara Leigh Mokoka transitions to the role from her position as Divisional Manager for Mergers and Acquisitions, bringing expertise in merger policy and transaction assessment.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition stated that these appointments aim to strengthen the Commission’s executive leadership, ensure enforcement continuity, and bolster institutional credibility. The move is part of a broader effort to fill critical leadership vacancies to support industrial policy and economic growth.
