Composer Carmen Braden to debut orchestral arrangement for David Suzuki tribute

Yellowknife composer Carmen Braden will debut her orchestral arrangement, ‘Imaginal,’ on September 22 during a concert dedicated to Canadian scientist and environmentalist David Suzuki. The performance, conducted by Henry Kennedy, was commissioned by the National Arts Centre (NAC) Orchestra.

The expanded arrangement was commissioned by the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre to support new works by local artists in the Northwest Territories. The piece has grown from a duo for two players into a 19-part arrangement for more than 30 players. The upcoming event features a program including works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, and Leonard Cohen, with Suzuki guiding the audience through the evening.
