Composer Paul Mealor receives surprise award from Sir Bryn Terfel
Composer Paul Mealor was surprised with the Wales Care Awards’ Sir Bryn Terfel Foundation Award for Promoting the Arts in Social Care during the North Wales International Music Festival. The presentation took place at St Asaph Cathedral during a live concert, ahead of a question and answer session involving Sir Bryn Terfel and Bishop Gregory Cameron.
Sir Bryn Terfel presented the award to Mealor, who serves as the festival's artistic director. Mario Kreft MBE, chairman of Care Forum Wales and founder of the Wales Care Awards, introduced the presentation. Mealor, known for composing the Coronation Kyrie for King Charles and Queen Camilla and ‘Ubi Caritas’ for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, expressed that he felt “humbled and moved” by the recognition.
