Composer Trần Tiến discusses musical origins and international appreciation
Vietnamese composer Trần Tiến recently shared the origins of his song ‘Sao em nỡ vội lấy chồng’ during the program ‘Trò chuyện cùng thời gian’. He recalled a period of financial hardship when a 300,000 VND contract provided ten days of living expenses. The song was inspired by a poem by Hoàng Cầm and personal memories of a childhood sweetheart who married someone else.
In a separate moment of cultural connection, French singer Kenjah David performed ‘Mặt trời bé con’ in French. David discovered Trần Tiến’s music while at a cafe in Hanoi and was drawn to its open and colorful style. The composer expressed deep emotion regarding the international appreciation of his work, noting the happiness of being remembered by artists from different cultures.
