Composer Tudor Chiriac dies at age 77
Moldovan composer and university professor Tudor Chiriac has passed away at the age of 77. A recipient of the State Prize and a Master of Arts, Chiriac was a prominent figure in the nation's musical and educational landscape.
His diverse body of work includes symphonic, vocal-symphonic, chamber, and vocal compositions, as well as music for theater. One of his most celebrated works is the poem ‘Miorița’, for which he received the State Prize of the Republic of Moldova.
Minister of Culture Dan Suruceanu described Chiriac as an ‘emblematic figure’ and a significant contributor to the development of national musical art. The Ministry has announced it will provide support to his family.
