Comrat residents fear groundwater contamination from landfill waste

Residents on the outskirts of Comrat are expressing concerns regarding potential groundwater contamination due to conditions at a local landfill. Observations at the site include large piles of waste, burning plastic, and a basin of turbid water.

In Switzerland, researchers are testing an ecological alternative to combat glacier melting. The 'Keep It Wool' project, coordinated by the Summit Foundation and the University of Lausanne, is experimenting with sheep wool as a biodegradable replacement for polluting plastic sheets. These wool blankets are being tested on the Tsanfleuron glacier to reflect sunlight and reduce heat absorption, aiming to slow the melting process caused by global warming.
