COMUDE León reports historic sports investment and athletic success
COMUDE León presented its 2025-2026 activity report, highlighting significant investments in sports infrastructure and substantial economic benefits for the city of León, Guanajuato. Total projected investment in sports infrastructure is expected to exceed 1 billion pesos, with approximately 850 million to 950 million pesos already directed toward construction and rehabilitation projects, including the Jesús Rodríguez Gaona sports complex and various neighborhood parks.
The report noted an economic impact of approximately 950 million pesos generated by hosting sporting events. Social programs such as ‘Pásale Gratis’ have facilitated over 3.5 million free entries to sports facilities, while inclusion initiatives have engaged over 35,000 seniors and people with disabilities.
On the competitive front, León's athletes achieved historic results. In the 2026 National Olympics, the city provided 70% of the state's total medals, totaling 199. Internationally, swimmer Celia Pulido was recognized for her performance at the Central American and Caribbean Games, where she won 11 medals, including 8 gold.
