Comung celebrates 30 years of community universities in Rio Grande do Sul

The Consortium of Community Universities of Rio Grande do Sul (Comung) marked its 30th anniversary by highlighting the impact of its 14 member institutions on regional development. During a meeting with the press, rectors presented data regarding the scope of these universities in education, research, innovation, health, and internationalization.

In 2025, Comung universities offered 524 undergraduate courses with 85,588 enrolled students. Notably, 33.4% of these students received scholarships or grants. The institutions also reported significant postgraduate activity, with 103,516 students enrolled in lato sensu courses and 7,673 in stricto sensu programs. Academic output included the graduation of 1,589 masters and 720 doctors.
