Conad and Rotary donate dermopigmentation device to San Jacopo Breast Surgery unit in Pistoia

Conad Nord Ovest and the Rotary Club Pistoia‑Montecatini donated a professional dermopigmentation device to the Chirurgia Senologica (Breast Surgery) department of Hospital San Jacopo in Pistoia, Italy. The donation ceremony took place in the Cinzia Lupi hall of the hospital, attended by the donors and medical staff.

The device enables dermopigmentation of the areola‑nipple complex, using biocompatible pigments and sterile needles to recreate a natural appearance for patients after breast‑cancer surgery. It is performed by qualified healthcare professionals and is included in the national Essential Levels of Assistance (LEA). Since 17 July, three patients have already received the treatment at San Jacopo.

Hospital officials highlighted the significance of the donation: Dr. Maria Sciamannini, head of the Breast Unit, said the technique represents the final phase of reconstruction, aiding women’s physical and psychological recovery. Dr. Leonardo Capecchi and Dr. Luis Sanchez praised the contribution for allowing the department to integrate the service permanently and improve the overall quality of care for breast‑cancer patients.
