Social and agricultural development initiatives in Chile and Argentina

In Chile, the National Corporation for Indigenous Development (CONADI) has distributed significant subsidies for irrigation and drainage projects. In the Los Ríos Region, 1.3 billion pesos were allocated to Mapuche families for water management infrastructure. Additionally, in the Tarapacá Region, over 2.9 billion pesos were awarded to 133 indigenous beneficiaries for projects including technical irrigation, water storage, and solar-powered solutions.

In Argentina, the government of Tierra del Fuego has entered into a collaboration agreement with the civil association DONCEL. This partnership aims to transform alternative care for children and adolescents by prioritizing family and community-based environments over institutionalization. As part of this initiative, technical teams have received training on international guidelines for deinstitutionalization and community-based care.

Furthermore, the Municipality of Ushuaia continues its “Dame la mano y criemos juntos/as” program, providing support and community networks for first-time caregivers to share experiences and tools regarding early childhood development.

In the Arica y Parinacota Region of Chile, authorities conducted training for caregivers of electro-dependent patients to improve emergency preparedness and electrical safety during supply interruptions.
