CONAF and Senapred host seminar to improve forest fire response

CONAF and the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (Senapred) held a seminar in Valparaíso to strengthen regional coordination for forest fire response. The event, hosted at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, focused on improving interoperability within the National System for Disaster Prevention and Response (Sinapred).

Participants included representatives from regional governments, provincial presidential delegations, municipalities, firefighters, police forces (Carabineros and PDI), the Armed Forces, and academia. Discussions centered on emergency protocols, meteorological projections for the upcoming season, and the establishment of unified commands for complex scenarios in urban-forest interfaces. Officials emphasized the importance of intersectoral reflection and the need for coordinated work among all institutions and municipal disaster risk management teams to prepare for high-risk periods.
